Who we are

Midnight Veil is a Role-playing Free Company dedicated telling intricate stories while sticking with the rich lore of Final Fantasy XIV. Our community thrives on collaboration, creativity, and a deep respect for the game's established universe. We take lore very seriously and like more grounded characters that do not tend to be 'all-powerful' and without flaws.We also use a custom in-house combat system very comparable to tabletop style games and utilizing FFXIV's built in /dice system. We use voice chat on discord to communicate during DM'd events as it keeps things simpler.While we focus on RP first, we also love the core game, and we are happy to run content with those that are interested. We do not do prog for savage or anything like that as we are limited on our time, and out love is to the RP above all.

In the realm of Midnight Veil, our FC operates as a multifaceted syndicate, engaging in diverse activities such as bounty hunting, assassinations, drug trafficking, security services, and many other things. Our alignment is somewhere in the morally gray.The 'morally gray' angle brings opportunities for intersting story beats such as conflicts between allied characters and the questioning of executing different scenarios.We embrace mature themes and complex narratives to deliver the most compelling and provocative storytelling possible. Join us as we delve into the darker, more intricate facets of Eorzea. Become part of a community dedicated to crafting grounded and believable stories within the rich context of Final Fantasy XIV. We welcome those with busy schedules as we are quite busy in our own day-to-day lives. We want everyone to enjoy following stories without people feeling like they have to be online all the time.

Rules

- You must fill out an application, you can do so here- You must be 21+ years old both ICly and OOCly.- Do not discuss or even allude to anything religious or political OOCly. It only brings about division and creates a toxic atmosphere, we do not tolerate it.- We do not give trigger warnings here, this FC deals with dark themes, if you are someone that is easily triggered, this FC is not for you.- We ask that your character be a lore compliant character, the next section will cover that.- We will not accept characters that have a strong sexualized background or identify as "F+", this is an ERP fetishization, and is not the culture we want in our FC.- You must join voice for DM'd events and Meetings, we require our members to both speak and listen.- No Godmodding, Metagaming, Blending, or Lorebreaking will be tolerated. This is the foundation of our FC's RP module.- We want our members to bring in their main RP character, if you want to bring in any alts afterward, that will be something the leadership will evaluate.- If you purchase an FC chamber and leave or are removed, you do not get a refund. Purchase at your own risk.- We ask that you try and resolve any disagreements between yourselves either ICly or OOCly, but if issues still persist, please don't hesitate to bring your concerns to leadership.

What we accept, What we Reject

At Midnight Veil, we uphold the rich lore and immersive experience of Final Fantasy XIV. To ensure our stories remain cohesive and authentic, we have established the following character creation guidelines:Warrior of Light:We do not accept characters claiming to be the Warrior of Light.Cross-World and Cross-IP Characters:Characters from other worlds or intellectual properties (e.g., Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Zelda, Elder Scrolls) are not permitted. We maintain a strict FFXIV-only environment.Class Restrictions:We at Midnight Veil do not recognize White Mage or Dragoon as cohesive lore-abiding classes for non-Warrior of Light RP characters.What if I really like WHM and DRG?Those who love the idea of WHM, try role-playing as a Conjurer! Those who love the idea of DRG, opt for a Lancer instead. Choosing a class rather than a job doesn’t diminish your character’s strength—be creative and add a lore-cohesive twist like a Dark Knight lancer user, etc!Lore-Incompatible Characters:We do not recognize characters that are voidsent, sin eaters, succubi, kitsune, auspices, vampires, etc.Balanced Skills:Avoid making your character proficient in too many skills. If you wish to be a weapons expert or a magic user, do so gracefully and with limitations. A character adept in everything at once, like guns, blades, and magic is unrealistic and detracts from the experience.Race and Lore Consistency:Ensure your character’s background aligns with the lore. For instance, a Miqo'te from Ishgard is implausible since Ishgard only opened its doors to outsiders during the events of Heavensward. Research the lore behind your character's race and class to ensure coherence.Time Investment:Life brings about busy seasons of work and taking care of families, as long as we feel that members are engaged with the FC as a whole, we are happy to have them. Hiatuses are understandable, and we ask that if any member needs a break or needs to step away temporarily, please just let us know, and we'll keep you in the FC :)Less is More:Your character doesn’t need to be overly complex to be interesting. The depth and intrigue come from thoughtful writing and storytelling. There may even be additional things not listed here that we would have to mull over and see if it will work good for our group.
